Who was the Baron?

Did you recognise Trowbridge’s very own Baron Henry de  Bohun? He is celebrating the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta this year.   I know lots of you enjoyed meeting him on Saturday! Huge thanks to Mr C for helping us bring Henry to life!

   

Great day!

We had a great day today! Thank you to all who came and enjoyed the day and helped to make it happen!

It’s tomorrow!

All the tents are up and lots of hard work by great volunteers today to help get everything ready – thanks so much to everyone who helped!

Looking forward to a great day tomorrow – there’s lots to do and remember ALL THE ACTIVITIES ARE FREE!

Please do buy your lunch at the festival or have a cream tea or an ice cream – all proceeds help pay for the costs of the day!

The Parade starts at 11am – be there and take part if you would like to –  it is a great start to the day!

Assembly at The Mead

It was great to be at The Mead for assembly this morning at both Hilperton and Wingfield.  Every was great at identifying the flags of the 21 nations that will be represented at the Festival on Saturday.

It sounds like there are some great displays being made by the different classes.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

Enjoy some Ceilidh with your cake!

Come along and join in the Irish Ceilidh with The Music Workshop Company. Dances suitable for all ages 4-90 years old or come and play drums and other percussion instruments – all day in the Tea Room.  http://www.music-workshop.co.uk/schools-workshop/ceilidh

Workshops are provided by The Music workshop and led by Collette O’Leary.  Colette is a London based accordionist and performs around the UK, Ireland and worldwide. Originally from Ireland, her varied repertoire includes Irish, French, Italian, Scottish, Eastern European, Russian and South American.

Should be lots of fun!  come and enjoy – all workshops and performances are free!

 

 

Take a trip around the world

We hope you are looking forward to the Festival of Nations as much as we are!

With 21 tents representing different countries of the world there are lots of different activities and games for you to enjoy from decorating a Russian doll to crushing grapes!  Get your passport stamped in every country you visit and enter our prize draw.

In our performance tent you can enjoy the sounds of Bollywood Brass and The Mead School Choir as well as dancing from 4Stars Dance and Zumba and Tae Kwon do displays.

Don’t miss the chance to have a go at African drumming, steel pans and join our Ceilidh workshops. it all starts at 11am with a great parade of performers and children from local schools.

What could you do at the Festival of Nations?

Make a mask, play table tennis, decorate a plate, dance, eat, be merry, take part in the parade, enjoy the choir, African drumming, have an ice cream, sing, crush some grapes, play boule, paint, have a crepe, watch a puppet show, make a fan, have some Japanese tea, take the chopstick challenge, do some weaving, make a wind chime, have your hair braided, eat some noodles, make a love spoon, have a nice cup of tea, have a henna tattoo, eat some cake, listen to a story in a tipi, decorate an egg, do some potato printing, play table football, sing like Abba, and more!!!!!!!!!!
